About
Currently, I am a Lecturer1 in Physical Chemistry and Deputy Director of Education in the School of Chemistry at the University of Leicester. Though I don't really do any chemistry anymore, unless I really can't avoid it. My departmental contact details are here .
Prior to Leicester I lived across the North Sea in Aarhus for about 5 years, where I did a PhD in experimental physics with Henrik Stapelfeldt and worked on nonlinear surface spectroscopy in Surflab with Tobias Weidner. Prior to that I studed at Oxford where I did an MChem degree with Mark Brouard. I also spent a year sandwiched within the 5 Danish years working with Michael Burt and teaching undergraduates physical chemistry and maths in Oxford, until I got fed up at the lack of freely available rye bread and herring in the UK2. I have a long-standing interest in effective Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity initiatives and lead the team running the project polymerise at the University of Leicester.
Outside science I enjoy cycling, running, reading, music, messing around with electronics and microcontrollers, and playing Go and Chess at a thoroughly mediocre level.
